Stirling Players Inc. is an amateur theatre group based in the City
of Stirling in Perth, Western Australia.
Our productions rely on the volunteered efforts
of our valued member base and community residents. We are always willing to
welcome new members to our club and offer many opportunities for first-timers to
participate.
Whether you enjoy being on the stage or behind
the scenes, the Stirling Players is a great way to contribute to your community,
and meet some new and interesting friends at the same
time.
Our aim is to promote and encourage
drama and allied arts within the City of Stirling for cultural, educational and
recreational purposes, not for profit.
Our History
Stirling Players Inc began in 1970 with the
amalgamation of Northbridge Repertory and The Intimate
Players.
Our original home was in the Old Perth Roads
Board office in Main Street, Osborne Park but we were soon moved to the Progress
Hall in Gildercliffe Street, Scarborough. As our membership increased, in 1978
we were given the Health Administrations Office in the City of Stirling
precinct. After much renovation, this became the first Stirling Theatre. Here we
remained, growing in strength and repute, until Christmas 2000 when we were
unceremoniously bulldozed away.
The City of Stirling then gave us the use of
the Innaloo Recreation Centre and equipped us with a new purpose-built stage and
greenroom, auditorium chares and evaporative air-conditioning. The job was
finished with the installation of theatre lighting, sound equipment and stage
curtains.
In
2009 we received Arts Capital funding as part of the Western Australian State
Government's Ignite package to install an audio loop system within the
auditorium. This now allows our patrons with hearing aids to receive amplified
sound through their ear devices.
